Pallet trucks are industrial trucks for transporting pallets, lattice boxes and other materials. As low-lift trucks, they are used for the vertical transport of pallets, lattice boxes and other materials. For additional vertical transport, there are high-lift trucks. These are used to store goods in shelving systems. Pallet trucks are also used for loading and unloading. Industrial trucks are available as manual and electric pallet trucks. The device is pulled and controlled with the drawbar, and up and down movements lift the load using hydraulics. With electric pallet trucks, lifting is done using a switch on the handle. Hand pallet trucks, low lift trucks and electric low lift trucks are used every day in supermarkets, hardware stores and in industry. They are suitable for transporting pallets and the lifting height is usually between 115 and 122 mm . Pallet trucks for warehouses are easy to operate, they do not require a forklift license and reduce the strain on employees. Manually operated hand pallet trucks and electric models are used. Hand pallet trucks usually have a dead weight of 50 to 250 kg - standard models typically handle loads of 1,000 to 2,000 kg .
High lift truck in use in the warehouse
High lift trucks are available as hand-operated high lift trucks and electric high lift trucks . Operating hand-operated models sometimes requires a great deal of physical effort: the industrial trucks sometimes weigh more than 300 kg and are pulled or pushed. Electrically powered versions are a combination of forklift and pallet truck, and handling is done without much physical effort. Electric high lift trucks are ideal for loading and unloading high racks such as pallet racks . Using a pallet truck makes it easier to lift and store goods. Placing the load in the middle prevents the device from tipping over.
Farmers constantly have to move heavy loads. Forklift trucks are a valuable helper here, transporting hay for animals and bags of feed, for example. Using a forklift truck saves valuable working time and is a practical alternative to a wheelbarrow. Indoors and in tight spaces, they are a supplement to the tractor. Models with large pneumatic tires are recommended for uneven floors. With a weighing forklift truck, farmers can weigh bags of onions and potatoes directly, for example. This saves time.
On construction sites, pallet trucks have to withstand extreme demands. For example, they transport concrete and natural stone to their destination - often on uneven ground. Pallet trucks for construction sites include special pallet trucks for brick pallets , rollers and all-terrain pallet trucks .
Loading a truck with a hand pallet truck
Pallet trucks for trucks can be low-lift trucks or high-lift trucks . For safety reasons, both variants should only be used on level ground. High-lift trucks for trucks or vans typically have lifting heights between 1,200 and 3,000 mm and can carry around 1,500 kg . Manual pallet trucks and electric pallet trucks optimize the efficient handling of goods and are worthwhile as a supplement to the forklift truck.
At least one pallet truck is required to transport the raw materials and the finished tires, or alternatively a forklift. The pallet trucks for the workshop and factory enable the comfortable transport of heavy loads. The electric pallet trucks offer advantages over electric forklifts, especially in confined spaces, and are less expensive. Their use increases safety, protects against back pain and speeds up work processes.
In hardware stores, goods are often transported on pallets or in wire mesh boxes - potting soil, plants, charcoal, rolled carpets, moving boxes and many more. For this reason, pallet trucks are suitable for transporting goods in the warehouse, from the warehouse to the sales area or just in the hardware store. Small pallet trucks are ideal for narrow aisles or tight spaces. Long pallet trucks with forks of up to 2400 mm are suitable for extra-long goods, such as boards or pipes. Quiet pallet trucks are an option when goods have to be transported in the sales area during opening hours and the noise level should be as low as possible so as not to disturb customers. The use of electric pallet trucks makes sense in order to carry out processes more quickly and efficiently.
Pallet trucks in outdoor areas have to withstand wind and weather. They should therefore be corrosion-resistant - an appropriate coating can help with this. The tires are particularly essential in this context. Depending on the ground conditions, different tire materials may be used. Pallet trucks for construction sites, for example, have to meet different requirements than pallet trucks in the outdoor area of a garden center.
Both in the warehouse and in the workshop, manoeuvring takes place in very tight spaces - compact hand pallet trucks make this possible. In even tighter spaces, a mini hand pallet truck with a fork length of 800 mm is particularly suitable. If, on the other hand, extra-long goods have to be transported, or simply two pallets at once, pallet trucks with extra-long forks are an option. Both quick-lift pallet trucks and scissor-lift trucks are used as pallet trucks for the warehouse - as are pallet trucks in the workshop. A lot of time can be saved with a quick-lift pallet truck thanks to the quick lifting and lowering function. Order picking is also made easier. Scissor-lift trucks, on the other hand, are suitable for order picking as well as for use in everyday workshop life. Here, they function as a transport and work table and can be moved to a height of up to 800 mm.
Pallet trucks designed for transport are impressive due to their low weight, maneuverability and fork length. Small pallet trucks are mainly used because they score highly in a cramped truck with a fork length of 800 mm. But classic pallet trucks with a fork length of 1150 mm are also used to transport pallets, lattice boxes or other load carriers . Foldable pallet truck models are ideal because they are easy to store and also save space.
